Located in the Côa Valley near the north part of Douro region in the district of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo and hidden in Marofa Mountain, Colmeal Countryside Hotel is placed at the heart of nature, respecting local characteristics in its architecture. It also pays a homage to the tradition of welcoming by highlighting silence.
The estate dates back to the 12th century and it includes rock paintings, a church and a manor house that belonged to Pedro Álvares Cabral, the discoverer of Brazil. Existing heritage was preserved, transformed and valued by contemporary architect Pedro Brígida, so that guests can focus on what really matters: the experience of silence, tranquillity, the beauty of the place and of the region. The 650 ha rural estate spreads across Marofa Mountain in a natural setting of abundant fauna. The restaurant is under the supervision of Chef Vítor Claro.
