Alegre Hotel Bussaco is an intimate and pleasant hotel, nested between the exquisite Luso thermal baths and the Bussaco National Forest, a health and wellness sanctuary, only 20 km to the north of the historic university town of Coimbra, 2 hours drive from the Lisbon Airport and 45 minutes from the Porto Airport.
This hotel was built in 1859 to serve as a summerhouse to the Count of Graciosa, having been the first manor house constructed in Luso. Some hundred meters away from the hotel lies the Buçaco National Forest, a real heaven on Earth, complete with exotic trees, brought by Portuguese navigators from the four corners of the globe, crystalline water springs and breathtaking views above the Atlantic Coast.
