Travelling by steam train across the most stunning natural landscapes with the Vouga river as backdrop is certainly a lifetime experience! The national railways CP - Comboios de Portugal organises regularly these memorable train journeys that are also time travels!

The century-old steam locomotive was built by the German company Henschel & Sohn and the five carriages in the beginning of the 20th century.

The historical recreation of the connection between Aveiro and Macinhata do Vouga is a 2-hour journey, crossing 30 km of incredible natural settings.

Vouga railway line was inaugurated by King D. Manuel in 1908. Known as "Linha do Vale das Voltas" because of its sinuous design, with curves and counter-curves and many geographic contrasts, this century-old railway line is 96 km long, connecting Espinho-Vouga to Aveiro across 44 train stations.

A steam train journey is definitely the perfect antidote for these times of rush!
