Eneida Lombe Tavares is a young product designer from Caldas da Rainha, who fell in love with the intricate art of basketry. Her inspiring work that mixes ceramics and basketry is all about a deep connection to nature. And to her fascinating African heritage.
Her most famous work is Caruma, where pine tree needle basketry goes hand in hand with ceramics via a special weaving method. This work is available in yellow, blue and natural colour.
Currently, she works at Bora, a project conceived by 4 friends and interdependent designers: Eneida Tavares, João Xará, Jorge Carreira and Samuel Reis. Drawing on their individual experiences, they decided to work as a collective whilst retaining their independence. Their shared approach naturally brings them together, as do the materials they work with – wood, glass, ceramics, metals, plant fibres and textiles.
Weaving natural threads like beautiful hair braids. It's all about paying a tribute to cultural memories.
