Christmas in Leiria
From November 27th 2026 to January 3rd 2027 the city of Leiria will be the stage of the magical Christmas world !
The programme of Christmas celebrations will be held for many memorable weeks.
A giant Christmas ball with everyday shows, an ice rink, Santa Claus arrival, a Christmas parade, a carousel, a train, a solidarity garden, a goblin playground and many other Christmas attractions will turn this city into a must-see Christmas spot!
The streets and cultural associations of this inviting city will organise several daily activities.

Festival A Porta
This is a door belonging to the city of Leiria which, unlike all the others, only opens in June.
Through it, you have direct access to a wide variety of art, culture, entertainment, leisure, shopping and gastronomy.
The essence of the A Porta Festival lies in the gatherings, which foster a sense of community amongst all the people of Leiria and bring together plenty of music, visual arts, workshops, themed dinners and a thousand and one other doors that open up to all of this.

Extramuralhas Festival
Originally named Entremuralhas, the Castle was the main venue for this festival, adding to the melancholy and romanticism of the Gothic style. However, in 2018, the festival was forced to move beyond the castle walls due to renovation works at the Castle. The event was consequently renamed ‘Extramuralhas’, but it retained its status as an international benchmark and provided other venues across the city with the opportunity to expand the line-up of bands.
With a deeply eclectic programme and outstanding concerts, this is the festival that has made gothic music part of Leiria identity.

Versátil
Established in 2024, Versátil emerged from the transformation of the traditional Leiria Book Fair into an event that explores the dialogue between literature and other forms of artistic expression. Since its first edition, dedicated to the theme ‘And After Freedom’, the initiative has fostered encounters between authors, artists and the public through debates, concerts, film screenings, poetry and other cultural activities.
More than just a space for discovering works and authors, Versátil encourages the sharing of ideas, active listening and debate, valuing literature as a means of understanding the present and imagining possibilities for the future.

This event is not just a conference; it is a call to action, a celebration of imagination and ingenuity, creativity and talent, and an open platform, ready to shape a more innovative future for Leiria.
