Beautifully located at the heart of the historical centre of Pinhel, next to the historical wall, 40 minutes away from Guarda, Entre Portas (literally translated, "between doors") is simultaneously an extraordinary restaurant and a an architectural landmark. Faia Brava Natural Reserve is located 26 minutes away from Pinhel, in the council of Cidadelhe, in Pinhel municipality.
This surprising restaurant was designed by the Portuguese architecture collective depA, based in Oporto, that describes this project as follows: "An old house, in the heart of the city of Pinhel, holds place to a new bar/restaurant which aims to be a reference in the city’s historical center. From the old and dark original house, the proposal kept and took advantage of the solid granite perimetral walls and the wooden roof structure that along with a selective demolition process created a new fluid and bright inside space."
Apart from being a great highlight of contemporary architecture, Entre Portas is also recognised by its outstanding cuisine. Genuine flavours of Portuguese regional gastronomy and the typical hospitality of the Portuguese Table.
The main specialities, created by Chef Luís Gonçalves, are: goat cheese bruschettas with wild mushrooms; Pinhel blood sausage with almonds; tuna tataki with almond and sesame crust; three peppers steak; confit pork cheek with broad beans pure; octopus with egg sauce and olives; crème brûlé with lavender aroma or goat cheese puff with homemade papaya marmalade. There are also vegetarian specialities available.
