The imposing Palace of the Counts of Anadia, in Mangualde, 15 minutes away from Viseu, is a true symbol of local identity. This impressive Palace can be visited along with its magnificent lavish garden, inhabited by century-old species, such as sycamore trees and magnolias, and the vineyards that occupy an area of 10 ha. Wine production in the Palace of the Counts of Anadia dates back to the 18th century.
The wine maker behind the outstanding Conde de Anadia wines is Luís Leocádio. A true revolution is in course at the heart of Dão wine region, so proud of its noble character.
The vineyards were segmented and divided in smaller areas according to the different vine varieties. "Playing" with Touriga Nacional to produce an outstanding white wine was a big challenge to this wine maker, and also a way to break conventions. The result was a great white wine which has a lush aromatic side.
The Palace of the Counts of Anadia organises wine tastings in the wine cellars or in the vineyards.
