Bravo de Esmolfe Apple

Known since the 18th century, this apple is original from the Esmolfe village, in Penalva do Castelo and it’s an exclusively Portuguese product.

Known since the 18th century, this apple is original from the Esmolfe village, in Penalva do Castelo, in the surroundings of Viseu. It's an exclusively Portuguese product.

It’s a whitish green small fruit and it presents a “sui generis” pleasant and intense aroma. The flesh is white, soft, juicy, sweet and with lasting flavour qualities.

Parador Casa da Ínsua, located in Penalva do Castelo, organises several activities related to this apple variety, such as: visits to the orchards and Bravo esmolfe marmalade tasting.
