Tourism in Portugal

Being Portugal a dominantly Catholic country, Easter time has a deep-rooted meaning with several celebrations taking place in all regions. Center of Portugal is no exception. From the coastline to the inland, namely in Ovar, Fundão and Idanha-a-Nova, locals live this time of the year with great devotion and spirit of community. A celebration filled with meaningful rituals, heart-felt religiosity and enduring traditions whose origins get lost in time.

In the holiday season they are white and full of light, turning the city of Águeda, in the region of Aveiro, into a must-see Christmas spot. 

The protected designation of origin Aguardente DOC Lourinhã is actually the only demarcated region in Portugal for the production of brandy ("aguardente"). In the European Union there are only 3 demarcated brandy-producing regions, namely: Lourinhã and the French regions Cognac and Armagnac.  

Apart from its unquestionable value, the precious Crown of Our Lady of Fátima owns a deep symbolic meaning. It contains a non-precious element: the bullet of the assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II.  Definitely, the most important piece treasured by the Shrine of Fátima.
